On Saturday the 18th of September 2010, 20,000 people took part in one of Central London’s largest ever protests to oppose the state funded visit of Pope Benedict XVI. It was the first time a Papal head had visited the country since 1982 and was largely criticized by a number of different communities who believe that the Pope and his beliefs are politically and adversely out of touch with modern day Britain. Their anger centralized around the insensitivity of the visit during such a fragile economical climate.
